Air Day for the Brownies is Mrs Sykes's second book about flying: The Flying Summer, already published, is for older girls. I loved this book as a child, and am about to order it so I can have it as the book equivalent of comfort food For someone like me who cant remember titles or authors names to save her life, it says a lot about my love for this book that I can remember the authors name 30 years after I read it - the only book by Pamela Sykes at my local library. She meets a Victorian girl Alice who seems nice at first but eventually tries to kill Lucy to keep her in the past. What little time is left is filled with variety of hobbies, among them flying. 'Mirror of Danger' also known as 'Come Back Lucy' by Pamela Sykes has Lucy going back and forth in time whenever she looks into a mirror or other reflective surface. She lives in a large rambling farmhouse ion Somerset, where she spends the greater part of her time looking after her family of three children-cooking, keeping house, gardening and driving to and from schools.

Pamela Sykes has two very enthusiastic Brownie daughters, and she takes an active interest in the doings of a neighbouring pack.
